Doctor Who series 12 is on the way with Jodie Whittaker making her second outing as the timelord with showrunner Chris Chibnell also making his return to the show. It seems the internet is full of rumours about the new series that have little to no truth surrounding them.
Before we go any further I would like to remind you of the “100% true” rumours from last season including the return of Rose Tyler, Captain Jack and that The Doctor would own a cat.
Jodie Whittaker is Leaving the Show!
The rumour goes that Whittaker and showrunner Chibnall are at a constant head to head overproduction of the series and it’s looking like both of them will be walking away from the show. According to various sources (which started with someone leaving a comment on a YouTube video) Chibnall had to be fired by the BBC because of “creative differences” over the fact Chibnall wanted to make female Daleks.
Why is this all rubbish? Well for one it started with a comment on a video by some random guy. No actual evidence to support it, just something he typed up. Secondly, it’s not uncommon for there to be friction behind the scenes of a big show like this. It’s a very intense 12 months of filming so there are going to be moments of high tension. Thirdly, Whittaker has been seen on set many times filming with her co-stars including Daleks in the last few weeks. The idea of introducing “female Daleks” to the show seems like something someone would say just to annoy the fans to it’s unlikely to be true. They have been voiced by Briggs since the show returned so I doubt that is true, at all. Next!
Doctor Who to Push ECO Message
According to The Mirror, one episode of the upcoming series will tackle climate change after issues like gender politics (having a female lead, big deal) racism (Rosa Parks) and imperialism were explored in previous episodes.
“Jodie Whittaker will wage war on plastic choking the world’s oceans” is likely to be focused around an underwater episode with maybe a few passing lines about plastic killing sea creatures.
Once again there is no evidence or sources to the story just some text that might be true and might not be. I don’t see a problem with this as it is a growing problem and having a program like Doctor Who to spread the word and make an impact is nothing but good.
Doctor Who will return at Christmas
They did some filming on a snow set. That’s it. But if there is a special some time soon it will be a Children in Need or New Years special.
The Series Layout will apparently work out with Episode one being ONE HOUR along with the remaining nine episodes being just under the ONE HOUR mark.
Episode 2 will take place in WW2
Episode 2 and 3 will be a “to be continued” story.
Episode 3 will star Inbetweeners star James Buckley sporting a green wig.
Episode 5 will maybe see the return of The Sea Devils but that’s just something on IMDB and even I have an IMDB account. This could link back to the episode regarding plastic waste
Episode 6 will give fans the return of the Jadoon which was confirmed way back in January 2019. Filming for the episode took place in Gloucester and a lot of the episode takes place inside the city’s cathedral.
Episode 7 – No news
Episode 8 – According to The Mirror will feature The Cybermen.
Episode 9 – No news
Episode 10 – No news
Episode 9 and 10 have no news regarding them which makes me think they are going to be a connected story. If anyone from the shows past was to return it would likely be in this episode. I doubt it will be another Doctor but likely a former companion to the New Who.
